Fundraiser for injured Canadian's medical care Print E-mail

Dave Wheatley, the Canadian man involved in the collision on Sunday, remains in critical condition in the hospital. At this time, he is not yet able to be moved to Canada which is creating a need for funds to cover his care, and the service to send him back home.

A benefit event has been organized for this Sunday (September 24th) at Flanagan's, 4-8 PM, featuring live music with Matt & Ed Fox.

Dave is just 28. He is the drummer in the band “8 Feet” and comes from outside of Toronto, Canada. He enjoys martial arts, loves music and considers himself a movie aficionado. Dave has spent the last two tourist seasons in Bermuda along with the three other members of his band creating friendships and memories giving us a good time and a great beat! His mother and sister, along with other members of his family and friends have come to Bermuda to be near him during this critical time.

If you are interested in being a donor to this family for his extra legal bills or the cost to send him to Canada, please contact: Gregg Smith at 505-2923.

Organizations such as PwC have elected to allow the funds raised from events such as denim day to be given to Dave’s care and Flanagan’s is planning some entertainment evenings in Dave’s honour.

In addition, at any time, Flanagan’s is a collection spot to drop off donations for the family and everything given is very gratefully received.
